I set up a simple image grid as the default display for this, with the title, description, and year showing. If you want to come up with a custom layout for this, you can.
While it is possible to do some automatic image cropping, I’d reccomend choosing a ratio that also works well as a social media card default sharing image size, ex. 1.91:1 (Facebook), or 2:1 (Twitter). Square or 16:9 also work well, as they will be useful in other places as well.
